A drug (pain medication, cortison) is successively applied directly into the surroundings of the target tissue or into the target tissue via an injection. This results in an immediate distribution of the active ingredient in the tissue.
With the help of an infiltration of pain-relieving and anti-inflammatory medications directly to the nerve roots, into the vertebral joints or into the spinal canal, various pain conditions and complaints can be sustainably alleviated. The medication reaches its target location under direct visual control using CT (computed tomography) (CT-controlled infiltration) or x-ray guidance.
The infiltration results in an relaxing and pain-relieving effect. Possible areas of application include nerve root sblockages, facet syndromes/facet joints and pain in the sacroiliac joint.
